Get an idea of what you want your final result to look like. Bring some photos of the brows you love and want to emulate as well as a photo of what your brows look like when you do your own makeup. Print or save them on your smartphone.
2. MAKEUP & REDNESS
Please arrive with no makeup on and around your brows. Every day makeup on your face is okay. Just know that it may get rubbed off around the brows and forehead. Your brows may be red and irritated afterwards, so keep that in mind when making plans after your Microblading appointment. DO NOT apply makeup on the brows to cover the redness! This will cause more irritation and possible infection. Please follow the after care directions that will be provided.
3. BLOOD THINNING AGENTS
The day before and day of do not drink alcohol or take anticoagulation medications (blood thinners). These substances may cause excess bleeding, which will inhibit your skin from being able to take pigment as well and heal properly. This could also cause other health hazards.
If you are on prescription blood thinners, you must get permission from your doctor if you want to temporarily stop taking them for a few days. It is recommended to get permission to pause them for three days prior to your appointment.
Examples of over-the-counter blood thinners: Aspirin, Fish Oil Supplements, Vitamin E, Ibuprofen, Advil, Anacin, Aleve, Alka-Seltzer, BC Powders, Motrin, Midol, etc.
Examples of prescription blood thinners: Warfarin (Coumadin), Pradaxa, Elequis, Xarelto, Plavix (Clopidogrel), Prasugrel, Brilinta, Cilostazol, Aggrenox, etc.
Again, DO NOT stop taking prescription medications without specific directions from your doctor! If your doctor will not allow you to pause your medication(s), then you are not a good candidate for Microblading. When in doubt, ask your doctor.
4. BROW SHAPING
If you do regular brow shaping, please make sure to do any tweezing, threading, waxing, etc. at least 48 hours before your appointment. Shaping too soon beforehand can cause the hair follicles to absorb pigment. I can also shape for you.
5. SKINCARE PRODUCTS
Please avoid using the following skincare products on and around your brows the day of AND two weeks before your appointment: AHA (Alpha-hydroxy-acid), Hydroquinone, Retinol/Retinal (Vitamin A), Retin-A (Tretinoin), anti-aging skincare products, and brow growth serums. These products may also cause Microblading to fade faster, so use caution when using them after your procedure as well.
6. COMMUNICATE ABOUT ALLERGIES & CHRONIC OR SUDDEN ILLNESSES
If you have even a mild concern about an allergy or illness, please tell me about it. Fill out the form on my website or schedule a consultation so I can make sure you are a good candidate for Microblading. Please tell me about all cosmetic substances that have had a negative effect on your skin. You will also be asked to fill out and sign a waiver in the salon. You can email me for a copy if you would like to see it ahead of time. If you are sick the day of your procedure, we will need to reschedule your appointment. If you are sick, your brows won't heal properly and you risk infection.
7. PLAN ACCORDINGLY
I absolutely love kids, but minors are not allowed in the salon per state laws. Please allow for up to three hours to complete your initial procedure and 1.5 hours for your touch-up. You won’t be able to go swimming, tanning, steam bathing, get facials, or expose your brows to the sun for at least two weeks after, so plan any vacations accordingly!
If you follow all of these preparations, I am confident that you will have an amazing experience! Let me know if you have any other questions leading up to your appointment. Please view the Frequently Asked Questions HERE.
